1. About this policy

This policy explains what personal information The Jasper Picture Company (“we”, “us”) collects, why, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. What we collect

Information you give us. When you enquire, request a quote, book a call or work with us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, organisation, project details and budget range, and any messages, briefs and files you send us.

Newsletter. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your name and email address.

How you found us. When you send an enquiry, our website also records how you reached us: the page you landed on, the site or ad that referred you, any advertising click ID, the pages you viewed, the time on the page and your type of device. This tells us which of our marketing works.

Website activity. Like most websites, ours uses cookies and similar technologies to measure visits and the performance of our advertising (see section 5).

People who appear in our videos. If you appear in a video we produce, we collect your image and voice for that project, under consent arrangements made with you and our client.

3. How we use it

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and prepare quotes
  • deliver, manage and invoice our services
  • keep in touch about your project
  • send our newsletter if you have subscribed, and occasionally tell clients about our services. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time
  • understand how people use our website, so we can improve it
  • measure and improve our advertising (see section 5)

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers who help us run the business, such as our website host, our customer database, email and newsletter providers, our accounting and scheduling tools, and the advertising and analytics services listed below. We also share it when the law requires it, or with a client when you are working on their project.

5. Analytics, advertising and cookies

Our website uses the following services. Some of the data passes through our own tracking server before being sent on to them.

  • Google Analytics: measures how visitors use the site.
  • Google Ads: measures when a visit from one of our ads leads to an enquiry or phone call, and shows our ads to people who have visited our site (remarketing). When you submit an enquiry, a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address and phone number may be sent to Google to match the enquiry to an ad click. Calls to our 1800 number from our website may be tracked to record the call’s duration and whether it came from an ad.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram): measures the results of any advertising we run on Meta platforms.
  • LinkedIn: measures the results of any advertising we run on LinkedIn.
  • Microsoft Clarity: records how visitors scroll and click on our pages, in a form that doesn’t identify you, so we can find and fix problems with the site.
  • Google reCAPTCHA: protects our forms from spam.

We also embed videos from Vimeo and booking forms from Calendly, which may set their own cookies.

Client lists for advertising. We may upload a list of our existing clients’ contact details to Google, Meta or LinkedIn so we can show them relevant ads, or exclude them from ads. These lists are scrambled (hashed) before upload, and the platforms use them only to match existing accounts and then delete them.

Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on, and change your ad preferences in your Google, Meta and LinkedIn account settings. You can also ask us to leave your details out of any client list we upload.

6. Storage and overseas providers

We store information electronically with cloud providers. Some of them, including Google, Meta, Microsoft and LinkedIn, may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure our providers protect your information.

7. Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires (for example, tax records).

8. Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. Contact us using the details below and we’ll respond within 30 days.

If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first and we’ll try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page.
