Our Ovarian Cancer Research Chelsea story was created for the OCRF 2025 EOFY Appeal. The aim of this appeal was to bring ovarian cancer into the spotlight by sharing a personal and moving account from someone directly affected. Chelsea, a young OCRF ambassador, was diagnosed with a rare ovarian cancer and wanted to use her experience to encourage donations, raise awareness and highlight the need for stronger investment in early detection and treatment research.
The project centred on a three minute campaign video supported by several social cutdowns for broader reach. Filming took place in Adelaide where our Producer Chelsie ran the interview remotely. Before the shoot we held a pre interview with Chelsea so she felt safe, informed and comfortable about sharing her story.
During the interview Chelsea spoke openly about life before her diagnosis and the moment she discovered she had a tumour. She described the difficult decisions she faced about her fertility at just seventeen and the emotional impact this had on her family. She also talked about the friendships she formed with others going through similar experiences and how these relationships shaped her strength and resilience.
Chelsea explained why she became an advocate for OCRF and how ongoing research into rare ovarian cancers could change outcomes for future patients. Through her story she helped reinforce why ovarian cancer research matters and why donations to the OCRF 2025 EOFY Appeal make a genuine difference to people facing the same challenges.
